poison ivy

*this photo isn't from "Poison Ivy," but it's really pretty and is an accurate representation of the aesthetic i wish encompassed my life daily. drew's hair is the prettiest shade of pink ever, and the flowers are so pretty and this picture is just so pretty and perfect. her chipped nail polish also adds a special down-to-earth feel other than the fact that she is literally down to the earth. i just love this photo, i think it's one of the prettiest i've ever seen.

i just finished watching Poison Ivy. It was my first time seeing the movie. I loved every minute of it. It was so perfect and tragic. I felt the characters were lost and delirious, searching for home and belonging in a world tangled with weeds. Some may say Ivy was one of these weeds, but I disagree. You could see how pure she was, how genuine and down to earth. Perhaps her moments of depth and connection were merely snippets of her manipulative nature, but to me she was hopelessly lost - left blinded in a world unfamiliar to her. There is this one line where Ivy says something like, "My mom was dead long before she died." And to me, (SPOILER ALERT), Ivy was dead long before her body left the earth. It seemed the entire movie was documenting the slow decline of her death and demise.

hello mickey

This is my favorite jacket. It's this semi-retro Mickey Mouse jean jacket from the disney store that blows the roof off my house with its awesomeness. I bought it from my friend for $3, and I wear it all the time. It definitely has some great 80s/90s vibes, which is perfect for my life and obsession with the 80s/90s. I feel like this 2012-ish era is going back to the styles of the 90s/60s/80s... grungy/neon/leggings/collars/bandanas/keds/ankle socks, etc, but then again maybe only my city is going back to those decades... WHO KNOWS. I am honestly so ashamed of how I've been dressing lately. It's just so mundane and typical, not original or exciting or daring or experimental at all! And I'm not hating on the more simple dressers or the world, I just really want to be a unique dresser, and I'm failing at doing so! I think part of the problem is that I haven't found my style niche, so I'm still trying to find my style comfort zone. I really need to start getting back into my weird-dressing stage of life. #YOLO (das da motto.)

I think my main issue here is that I am just extremely bored of my clothes, and I've basically exhausted all possible possibilities of ways to style/wear them. I just need to go on a major thrift store adventure and bring home a huge clothing haul of like, 20 items so I have TONS of new stuff to wear/style/make look awesome. I think awesome is an unappreciated adjective... people just feel that it's such a normal, boring adjective that they diminish all its great qualities and sassy essence.

POOOOOOOOOOOOP

Funk mood. Let's party.

sixties nineties vibes

I wore this outfit last week. I really love it, because it surrounds me with this aura of 60s and 90s vibes, which I love considering the 1960s and the 1990s are my two favorite decades. The flannel that I used my incredible skill to fringe, was thrifted, and it reminds me SO MUCH of My So-Called Life, and even more so of Angela and her signature flannel attire. The dress is reminiscent of a 1960s style, and then my gold boots+lace tights+socks+skirt under dress (dress=see through, me=no spandex, skirt=dress not see through anymore, skirt=makes outfit even more wonderful) just make it more awesome than ever thought possible. Yeah, I know. I rock.

I'm actually currently rewatching My So-Called Life for the third-ish time. The show is just SO relatable and SO accurately demonstrates the tomfoolery that seems to constantly be dancing about inside the minds of teen girls. Not only that, but I'm absolutely hardcore in love with Ricki. He is such a sweet and beautiful person who deserves everything that he was deprived of, and more. Additionally, Ricki probably has the raddest vest collection I've ever seen, and I have a fetish for vests.

Thrifted flannel, thrifted boots by Dirty Laundry, Nordstrom skirt, Audrey 3+1 dress, Forever21 tights, American Apparel socks, Claire's necklace, Frida Kahlo earrings, random heart barrettes.
