witch girl

This Fall 2008 Luella collection has been sitting on my computer for ages. I don't know why I never got around to posting it. Honestly, it doesn't even matter that this collection is 4 years old, because the witchy, Halloweeny vibes are timeless and priceless. My style has definitely been getting darker/more punk, and I think this collection represents the style I'm very obsessed with as of now, which, again, is kind of punk/dark/haunted looking, and sort of... I want to say, doll-like? Which is probably because I'm listening to Courtney Love's/Hole's Doll Parts. But I think this collection is very much doll-like! It's just perfect and so pretty and bad ass and whimsical, which are things I associate with creepy, porcelain, antique dolls. Also, for those of you who had a Stardoll phase at some point, you will probably recognize the bottom middle dress as a dress that was sold on Stardoll. I used to play on Stardoll back in the day, but then my friend hacked my account and sold all my clothes and SCARED ME TO DEATH BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS BEING STALKED. But don't worry I'm okay now.

Anyway, I know this collection is from four years ago, but I don't really care. I think it's still an amazing collection to see and one that people should see! I don't really see witchy vibes like this on the runways (meaning the pictures of the runways I see on vogue/style.com) anymore. Witchy vibes are so important to societal life, you guys! Like, common! Hocus Pocus? Halloween Town? Macbeth? YOU GUYS, THOSE ARE THREE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS, and witches are like, the prime importance of all three. I love witches, I'm pretty sure there is witch lineage on my mom's side. Not even kidding. (Sorry the pictures are blurry. I got these off style.com a long time ago, and pictures from style.com are always really blurry when they're blown up, and they didn't have Luella on vogue.com.)

Not only all of the above, but all these pieces are so fricken wearable! I love how the collection is clearly super "bolts and nails," but is accented nicely with softer lines and flowy fabrics. It's a really nice balance. I also love the bright colors that are slightly muted (kind of contradictory) like that amazing blue dress, and all the red plaid! THE PLAID. I love the plaid! The crimped hair is also a total winner. I think a Nine Inch Nails song would be the perfect anthem for this collection. I love how the models are styled, too! It really plays with age, and the models with gray hair totally encompass all witch vibes possible. I think the story behind this collection is that a super cool Witch Girl, named Witch Girl, has just moved to a suburban town. Witch Girl just happens to be a witch, and she has to blend in with the rest of her fellow teenz in high school, but still wants to incorporate her witch heritage into her style, so she combines lace, gothic vibes, and pointy hats with plaid skirts, colored tights, layers, and velvet. She also happens to be Weetzie Bat's cousin, who generously lends her her hair crimper and some of her really cool shoes. (I really wish I had a sister, because then we could be The Weird Sisters, and be witchy together.) (Did you catch the Macbeth reference?)

Here are some classy songs for my fellow witch and warlock chronies! Enjoy the wicked jamz.

1. Doll Parts
2. Smells Like Teen Spirit
3. The Witch is Dead
4. Teen Witch
5. Physical
6. Learn to Fly
7. Broomstick
8. Defying Gravity

teen witch

I think it's fun to get dressed and play with different characters and personas. I usually dress along the lines of a girl-punk-fairy aesthetic, but lately I've been getting into like, bad ass punk/vampire/witch vibes. I've been trying to dress a little outside my comfort zone because I want to explore things and be brave. High school is a time where people just change a lot. It's weird seeing my close friends suddenly become somewhat like strangers to me. I think my form of change has come in ways of inner growth and understanding, along with more self acceptance. I've also figured out that I'm really the only one I need to please. I don't need to dress for other people, and I don't need to get good grades just so I can do better than my classmates. I'll work as hard as I can and I'll wear whatever I want. I'll do things I like doing, like going to concerts of cool/weird-in-a-good-way bands, making zines and clothes, and listening to Riot Grrrl because that's what I like to do. It doesn't matter that other people aren't into that (at my school) it just matters that I'm doing what I like. Chris Brown sucks ballz and I hate rap music and dub step is boring so why listen to them? I'm not going to do things just so I can have something to talk to people at school about. I think that's how I've changed. I think my "fuck it" moment has finally come. I still care a little too much, but I definitely have that "screw it" attitude locked in a lot more.

I put this outfit together in the hopes of looking bad ass. I kind of look like a vampire-witch (notice broom stick in corner) which (witch) (haha look at me making such clever puns) I really like. At first my hair was up in a twist/bun thing, and I didn't have on a crown, but I felt too mature and old so I put my hair down and decided my rose crown would be a nice touch. I hate shaving my legs so I tend to shave them like, once every 2 weeks. Who on earth would actually pay attention to the shaved-ness of someone's legs? Only super weird people. I just don't really care if my legs are stubbly. It's a stupid thing to worry about.

DIY crown, DIY necklace, both shirts are thrifted, Material Girl shorts, my mom's jacket via Nine West, American Apparel socks, Doc Marten mary janes which I want to eat.

not dead, a.k.a, alive! witches

Halloo!! This post is very to the point and boring and informative.

I have been very MIA lately, because summer has gotten to me and I suddenly just became very social and awesome! So I have been neglecting my blog. But photos will be coming soon! And more cool posts! And just lots of awesome stuff! So for those who have been visiting, thanks so much it means a lot that you'd take time outta yo day to read my beastly blog!

Hope you are all enjoying summer! And for those of you who don't have summer right now... SUCK IT HAHAHA (jk, I'm actually sending happy vibes to you because i want ter help and sterf.)

So yeah! Quick life like update: I went to my cities Gay Pride festival thing today and it was very fun! I put paint on my face and drew a sun on my stomach and I looked really cool and tribal. I danced a ton and got free stuff and made new friends and a really awesome dude with bleach blonde hair and a pink shirt and just awesome vibes floating around his aura complimented my bowling shoes! He was like "I love your shoes!" and I was all like "Thanks!" Too bad I got blisters. OH VELL. I left early though because I got tired and it took me 2 hours to get home because buses are slow and I walk slow and my feet were hurting and I accidentally got off 3 stops early so it took me really long to walk home. But then I ate a BLT in my room and then I drank some lemonade and watched some TV and then I pooped and then I ate some more and talked to mah fokes and texted my friends and yeah! Life is so average, wuddup! Then these two guys who are a grade older than me at school randomly chatted with me on facebook. It was kinda weird. I admitted to one guy that I was a witch and had psychic powers, and he said he was too! It was crazy. To prove I'm psychic, I will predict your future: I predict that you will now comment on this post and follow my blog and email me about life!

Jamz for summer.
