alien creature

I have been drawing a hawk in art class lately. It's coming along really nicely. I can't draw things I don't enjoy drawing, which is why my art homework's are so terrible, but I really enjoy drawing the hawk. It's in graphite pencil and is totally stylized but still really good. I'm really proud of it. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

I'm getting really bored with my hair. I think I'm going to buy some dark brown hair dye as well as some blonde and red and just dump it in my hair and see what happens. I have a lot of split ends but I don't really mind them. I like dry hair, I think it's prettier than really silk smooth hair, because then it's wavy and course and textured and interesting.

judging you pensively

no words. no words.

um... okay... like, what the heck.

did anybody just see me talking to you? i hope not.

trying to smile. but what you said really wasn't funny.

oh, you beauteous being. johnny my man.

dream land

I've been obsessed with vintage National Geographic photos lately, and vintage scenery/landscape photos in general. They are literally just so aesthetically perfect and beautiful, and I just wish I could go into the little worlds I see and imagine in the photographs. Digital photography is so phlegmatic and cold. It just doesn't capture images the same way film does, and it just sort of gives photographs an empty feeling. Lately it seems I've been on a never ending journey to discover myself and where I belong and who I am. I think I've finally found my style, which is a mix of earthy and punk vibes. After trying practically everything else, this is what feels most comfortable to me, and what expresses my inner self most accurately. I've been getting really interested in the environment and nature and the naturalness of everything. I'm currently in the process of redecorating my room yet again, and I want to cover the walls in dream catchers, maps, vintage photographs, tea bags, and other pretty stuff. I want my room to represent a sanctuary of things I love/that inspire me. Dried tea bags just look really cool and pretty and smell awesome and add that extra aesthetic touch I need. I have been collecting them for forever so it'll be nice to finally put them to good use.

I know people always say high school is the worst four years of your life, but I actually really like it. I'm more focused on being true to myself rather than conforming for acceptance, and I'm also just surrounded by more positive and encouraging people than I was in middle school. I actually look forward to going to school, and once I'm there I really enjoy it.

The one thing I can't stand is my art class. It's very concrete and it's hard to make assignments personal and expressive because it's a portfolio class intended for juniors and seniors. I took it this year (sophomore year) because I wanted to develop my drawing skills, but the only thing I've learned is that I hate drawing. We have a homework assignment every week, and they usually take me 3-6 hours, It's so annoying because I'd rather collage a self portrait or do prints or something more abstract and interpretive than a simple pencil drawing and background, but I can't because "that's not the assignment." I think I'm just going to start pushing the boundaries so it's more fun for me and more enjoyable.

mary janes

Hello Hello Hello!!
How's life everyone?
Lately, my life has consisted of school, friends, tumblr, and food.

I kind of love school. I just love being around everyone and making friends and having so many people to talk to all the time. I can't imagine just staying home everyday, I'd get so bored! Even on the weekends, I'm out 2/3 days usually. Then again though, I do love being by myself sometime's, and just making cool stuff and listening to music and watching TV.

I haven't really done a blog post in a really long time. It's because recently I've been taking most of my pictures on my film camera and I haven't had the chance to develop my film yet! I can't decide if I should get a disk, prints, or both. Both costs like, $15 and I don't know if I want to spend that much. I could just scan all the prints, but that would take a while. I think I'll just do that though, because I love having tangible memories.

Some photos of what I wore to school a few days ago. I realize now it would have looked awesome with my Bikini Kill pleather jacket. If you notice my feet/shoes, you will see some incredible black Doc Marten mary janes. You probably recognize them from other posts. I got them for my birthday in May and I kind of love them more than anything in the entire world. I think I'll wear them until the day I die.

My style has been evolving really weirdly. I'm obsessed with environmental-looking outfits, as in lot's of browns and rusts and reds and neutral colors, as well as flowy shirts and woven fabrics and brown beads and shells and wintery coats for warmth, as well as vintage and quirkiness and stuff. What I'm currently doing at school is a perfect representation of my style, since I'm in the Environmental Club and doing costumes for the school play. Wahoo, life!

I'm also getting really interested in photography and film. I think I'm going to make a short film soon, just for the heck of it. I don't think it'll be scripted or anything, but mainly just me creepily watching people and documenting what they do, and/or filming my friends, and/or actually writing a script of SOME sort, and just doing something funky and fun!! I'll probably include/do it with my amazing friend Maya who is kind of my other half!

For a while/earlier this year, I didn't really care about dressing really crazy and stuff, I was just too lazy, but now I'm really focused on dressing fun and just loving what I wear and feeling all unique!

so whateva cya layta.

blonde ambition

A collection of pretty pictures to fuel you. I've been getting really obsessed with muted colors and 60s/70s photography vibes lately. These are some of my favorite photos I've come across recently via tumblr. I am/was tempted to organize these nicely but I'm too lazy and each picture deserves to be on its own rather than conjoined with another.

Unfortunately I've lost practically all the sources since tumblr is wack, so please let me know if any belong to you or if you know of the artist/creator man/woman. Just send me an email or comment below so I can credit the rightful person!

pooooooop

Hello! Today I hung out with my friend Sammy. She took a picture of my outfit with her phone, so it's kind of a sucky picture but hopefully you get the gist of it! I will have better quality photos tomorrow since I'll be bringing my camera with me tomorrow when I see her again! Also feel free to admire her finger, which she oh-so-cleverly put in front of the camera-for the sake of aesthetic-and which is bigger than me since I'm such a small thing.

Phone cameras really suck. It's super annoying. iPhone cameras are the BOMB, but all other cameras suck butt. My friend has a super nice blackberry and yet THIS IS THE BEST PHOTO IT CAN PRODUCE. I think all phones would be much better if the cameras were of better quality. Or maybe they are and my friend just sucks at taking pictures. It could be the latter.

My boots are gold and super cool. I'm wearing this semi sheer tank top and then this cropped turtleneck underneath that I generously stole from my friend so she wouldn't need to worry about losing it. I'm very considerate. I am also wearing a Bebe cardigan that I really like and still have on because it would require too much energy to take off. I feel really cool because my summer is getting very social. I have plans to hang out with my friend Sammy again like, twice more this week! Not to mention my MULTIPLE FACEBOOK CONVERSATIONS THAT TOOK PLACE ON FACEBOOK. I'm just a social butterfly.

shit pearls from a craft store, necklace my dad got me, borrowed turtleneck, thrifted tank, Bebe cardigan via the thrift store, Forever21 tights via 7th grade, thrifted boots, swag.

These jamz are fricken awesome. The picture is super pixelated from resizing, but the music is spot on! Tons of retro summer vibes!

i'd love to be a flower child

I suppose we could all say we're familiar with the term "flower children," a 60's term for the radical hippies that rocked the socks off that decade. I prefer saying flower children over hippies because it sounds really cool and foggy-pastely-wes anderson type movie-esque and just way cooler and more appealing than "hippie." I unabashedly admit to classifying myself as a flower child in the sense of "daisy chains meets crowns made of shit meets lots of flowery printed things/clothing/hair clips meets hanging out in fields of grass with daisies/nature meets listening to unknown music/bands meets trying too hard to be alternative meets hunting down thrift stores for used clothing." Clearly, my definition of flower child(ren) does and does not meet the definition of a flower child from the 60's. Due to the fact that I wasn't born in the 60's and am too lazy (considering it's 12:15 am and my "being a night person" is causing me to want to be AMBITIOUS when the rest of the world is ASLEEP or RAVING (yeah not for me I keep it classy with my butt glued to my desk chair while busying myself on my computer all day and reading books and decorating my room with pretty things that make me SMILE like a toothless baby smiles at Ronald McDonald.) So here is my inferential view and photo diary (via google images, and it's a pretty skimpy photo diary but my next post about flower children will be of much better photo diary worthiness) of 1960's flower children and their epic pwnage of the decade known for getting high and going on marches and protests about how much war sucks ass! (Which it does. I hope I get to go on a anti-war protest/march one day. It's on my bucket list, because I'm awesome and have a bucket list at 15 because I'm OCD about lists, even lists of thing I have to do before I die. See, I'm proactive. I plan ahead.) I guess I don't meet the drug (weed) standards necessary to be a FULL FLEDGED MODERN DAY FLOWER CHILD but that's cool because I take the low road in this case. (VERSUS THE HIGH ROAD HAHA LAUGH GUYS I'M FUNNY LOOK AND MY HUMOR.)

I suppose you could say I admire flower children more for their effortlessly cool and suave style and their peace-y-ness. I am totally a peace person and someone who hates war and violence and animal cruelty (speaking of animals, we have a mouse in my house and it's giving me a heart attack because I am scared it is going to come into my room and I'll see it and flip a shit, but I don't want it to die. I just want a member of my family that isn't me to gently capture it and free it in a nice grassy street island.)

Here are some rockin' flower children in their kick-ass painted bus. This is pretty much my dream car: tons of space for all your friends and it's perfect for laying roof-laying during late nights on the beach when you don't want to get sand down your pants but still want to look classy. Source

NECK BANDANA'S ARE SO COOL. Source

What's better than a peace sign? Um, HOW ABOUT A PEACE SIGN MADE OF DAISYS ON A GRASSY FIELD. I love this photo. It is pretty much the definition of a perfect summer. Doesn't this photo just scream "happy summer" to you?!!!?? Source

More flower children most likely high and dancing to some acoustic song being played at an outdoor concert on a cool summer's day. I see a ton of spectacular flower crowns and capes and head scarves and muted colors and just an epic amount of visual awesomeness and satisfaction. Vintage/retro photography is so much better than all this modern day HD shit. HD just needs to fuck off. Source

LOVE TRUMPS WAR. Source

Best photo in the world no question. It really speaks the truth in a way ignorant people can finally grasp. Source

In honor of trying to capture the wondrous essence of the glorious flower children, I decided to make my own flower crown. I had a bunch of fake flowers lying around my room because I have PIO (Personification of Inanimate Objects) which causes me to give detailed personalities to inanimate objects that have no emotional capabilities what-so-ever! This means that I am pretty much incapable of throwing stuff out, meaning my room is messy and full of bits of string and things I believe to have personalities or sentimental value or will have DEFINITE USEFULNESS someday. Sometimes I worry I may be one of those people who ends up on Hoarding: Buried Alive, but then I decide that that will never happen, because I usually make all my random crap into cool other crap!! So the laying around crap+crap I make into cool stuff cancel each other out, leaving my crap-meter (ew that sounds disgusting) neutral. INSERT TRANSITION: So I'm thinking of making a ton more of these crown-type things (which are EXTRAORDINARILY COMFORTABLE because the headbands are lined with FELT.) I'll probably make them with various materials such as barbie heads with the symbolism of "screw society and their fucked up ideas of beauty and the fact that I just really hate barbies and enjoy ripping their heads off their bodies!!" and other ones made of letter blocks and random things I find lying around my room+ebay!
